About Us
The Equals Opportunities Commission report ‘Working Outside the Box’ uncovered a massive waste of talent across the UK workforce. 6.5 million people in Britain today could be using their skills more fully if flexible working was available. Furthermore, the report also highlighted that half the working population, 52% of men and 48% of women, want to work more flexibly.
The then Minister for Women, Ruth Kelly, announced on 30 January 2007, progress on two programmes recommended by the Women and Work Commission Report ‘Shaping a Fairer Future’, to help reduce the gender pay gap and in particular stimulate cultural change among employers:
- Exemplar Employer initiative with more than 100 companies and organisations signed up to share their best practice and case studies
- The Quality Part Time Work Fund - designed to open up more part-time jobs for women at a senior level through supporting women to access employers and helping employers find ways to make flexible working possible
Following a successful bid to the Government’s new Quality Part Time Work Fund, Equals One Recruitment Ltd - together with partner organisations: Working Families; the UK Resource Centre for Women in Science Engineering & Technology (UKRC) and Yorkshire Forward launched flexworks-uk - a nationwide Job Share Register, and Quality Part Time Work support service.
Through flexworks-uk, this partnership (all experts in the field of flexible working) aim to provide an inward gateway to significant resources specifically focused on supporting higher-level part time employment.
The service will also provide an outward gateway for dissemination of best practice and case studies, focusing on highlighting the business case for higher level part time working.
